The whole premise of the Pixar movie Finding Nemo is the journies that happen. All of the main characters in the movie take a journey. Each of them learns something new about themself. The movie starts with Marlin and his wife talking about their new and the good schools around it. They’re also talking about how much space they have and how great everything is. Then they end up getting attacked. Marlin gets knocked back into the house unable to help his wife kids. After the attack Marlin and only of the eggs survive. Nemo, the other survivor has a damaged fin. However, the important thing to note is how overprotective Marlin is towards Nemo. This is mainly due to his anxiety because of what happened to his wife and other children.

To prove himself Nemo decides to swim close to the surface. This then starts Nemo’s journey. Nemo ends up getting captured and taken to a fish tank at a dentist’s office. Obviously, Nemo is scared and unsure. This journey is where Nemo really grows up, this is his becoming of age. I had a similar journey, not that I was captured like Nemo, but I left home going into unfamiliar territory just like Nemo. And just like Nemo I grew as a person, I met new friends and I learned new things. Nemo didn’t really choose this journey though, at first trying to swim close to the surface he chose that, so he could prove himself. However, everything that happened after was a consequence of him swimming to close to the surface. Without this, though I don’t think Nemo would have been able to discover himself, I also think Marlin would have continued to be super overbearing. This was super important to that father-son relationship they have. It was also super important because Nemo was able to see different things and experience things he never had before. Marlin’s journey is very important too. Marlin got to choose his journey. He chose to go find Nemo and try to save him from whatever fate he could be facing. He takes a very fatherly role in doing that. It must have been hard for him due to what he’s faced in his past. Marling meets Dory along the way and I feel like meeting her was a super important part of the journey. I feel like it helps him become more laid back and lax. I also feel like she helps calm his nerves along the way. Again I feel without Marlin’s part there would still be an overbearingness that could hinder Nemo’s life. I think both Nemo and Marlin learn two very important lessons. The first lesson being that life is short. Do not take it for granted because in the flash of an eye anything could happen that could change it or even possibly end it. I also think they both learned that every action has a reaction. Nothing is without consequences. Everything we do matters. So be smart.
